If you cannot provide acceptable identification, you can prove your identity through a witness who is willing to vouch for you. The witness must present one or more valid forms of identification to verify their own identity and must swear or affirm your identity under oath.

In Texas, for a credible witness to be accepted, they must either personally know the notary or present a valid, unexpired ID issued by the federal or state government that includes their photo and signature. The witness must have sufficient knowledge of the signer to swear or affirm the signer’s identity before the notary.
